The first Indian Premier League (IPL) skipper to record a five-wicket haul is Hardik Pandya. Hardik surpassed Anil Kumble’s sixteen-year-old record for best numbers in IPL history. At the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Hardik recorded numbers of 4-0-36-5 playing for the Mumbai Indians (MI) versus Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
After he recorded stats of 4-0-16-4 while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), in their contest against Deccan Chargers back in May 2009 at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, Kumble held the record for 16 years. Kumble also had 3.3-0-16-4 for RCB against the Chargers in the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai in the IPL 2010.

Other IPL captains who have recorded four-wicket hauls are JP Duminy, Shane Warne, and Yuvraj Singh. With statistics of 4-0-31-3 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Hardik formerly held the record for best figures by a MI captain in the competition.
With thirty scalps, Hardik also ranks second in the list of most wickets taken by an IPL captain. With 57 wickets, Shane Warne—who helped the Royals win IPL 2008—is highest on the list. As IPL captains, Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Pat Cummins have taken 30, 25, and 21 wickets apiece.
